Introduction

Sea Divided is an exciting two player game that is unique among all of the World of Balance games in that it is the only game that uses a water-based ecosystem and is not set in the Serengeti ecosystem.

After two players join the game in the lobby both are directed to the screen on the right. At this point each player has three options. They can play the game. If both players decide to play, they enter the game as shown in the following images. Also, there is a help screen available which will be examined shortly. Finally, the players can choose to return to the lobby.

Player fish swims among prey, predators & opponent

Player sees her fish, surrounding area and more

To the right is a game scene at the beginning of the game. The player fish is generally centered in the view. The game duration is 3 minutes (180 seconds). The surviving player with the most points at the end of 3 minutes wins the game.

Overview of screen features

The scores of the two players are shown at the top. The players gain points by eating prey. However, as the prey is eaten the points are considered 'unscored' and do not count for the score until the player enters her 'Home Base' that will be discussed later. The view in the lower right corner is a zoomed out view, allowing the player to see potential predators and prey. Also, she can see where Home Base is. In the lower left, is the current Health and Stamina points. They start at 100 and if they drop to 0 the player loses. Health is reduced when the player is attacked. Stamina is reduced when the player does a lot. When the player stops it will slowly increase. If the player goes into the Home Base it is recharged quicker. The player can sprint to get away from a predator by using the space key, but that uses up stamina.

Player encounters many things

In the view to the right the player has moved around and also the opponent has moved around. They have come into the same area. The opponent is shown with the red glow.

It can be useful to find the opponent. For example, the player may be chased by a predator. If the player knows where the opponent is, she can swim by the opponent with the hope that the predator will switch the persuit from the player to the opponent.

Avoid being killed by Predator

In screen to the right the player is in serious trouble. She is just about to be killed by a predator, the large fish in persuit. Notice that the Health is down to 20. This means that the predator has touched the player several times. One more touch and the player will drop down to 0 Health points and lose the game. It is very important to stay away from predators and if discovered, to escape from them very quickly. The player can use the space key to sprint away from the big fish.

Player escaped but suffered Health loss

In the image to the right we see some red spots around the player fish. We also notice that his health has dropped down to 60. This player has survived, but his Health has been lowered. Another encounter with a predator could result in death. In the zoomed out view in the lower right corner we see part of a blue rectangle. This blue rectangle is the player's Home Base. He can go there for protection and to recharge Stamina more quickly. To get there from here the player needs to swim to the right.

Player Fish killed by Predator

Sadly, we see the player fish has died. The player was touched repeatedly by the large predator fish until finally his Health went to 0. The game is over. The opponent has won. However, no problem. Return to the Lobby and play again!

Help Screen

To the right is the help screen. The user can select it upon entering the game. The crossed out red fish indicates that the player loses Health points for contact with a fish which is either poisonous or a predator. The arrow directs the player towards prey. Eating those fish will increase the player's 'Unscored Points'. These points turn into Score points when the player returns into his Home Base and remains there for at least 3 seconds.

Fish and Home Base

This section will begin by examining some of the fish present in the game. Special information about the fish will also be given.

Amberjack

The Amberjack is the predator fish that chases the player and the opponent when they get close to this fish. It will remove 20 health points during contact.

Herring

The Herring is a prey fish and it is worth 10 points if eaten.

Mackerel

The Mackerel is used as the player fish, the opponent fish. The opponent's fish shows with a red glow.

Red Snapper

The Red Snapper is neither a prey nor a predator. However, if the player touches this fish she loses 20 health points during contact.

Hogfish

The Hogfish is a lower prey and eating it is worth 10 points.

Turkish Fish

The Turkish Fish is poisonous. If the player eats this fish she loses 20 health points.

Blue Chromis

The Blue Chromis fish is a lower prey and eating it is worth 10 points.

Both players are provided with a Home Base. The Home Base is a place of protection from predators and a place to recharge stamina more quickly. The players receive scores for past eaten fish if they stay in Home Base for at least 3 seconds.
